Happy Birthday to meee

Tomorrow I celebrate my 20th birthday. I look back over the past year & I don’t regret a thing. If you compare me to this time last year, so much has changed. I’ve addressed the issues in my life & now because of that, I’m a much happier person. More than anything, I know what I want in life & I know what I don’t need in my life.

What did I learn? It’s okay to let go. There’s some friendships you cannot hold onto, especially if the other person doesn’t value it. I also learnt that bad things come in three’s & only then, will I learn that I need to make changes. I learnt I’m not going to meet any guy worth holding onto in the music scene at the moment so it’s about time I give up & focus on my friendships. I also learnt that you shouldn’t make life changing decisions in bad times or just after a big holiday. Decisions need time & lots of it.

Tomorrow I wake up to possibly the best year ahead of me, to date. I will be seeing one of my best friends from NZ over in Sydney in 4 weeks, finishing my certificate for the first time since I dropped out at 16, going to Bali for the first time with my closest Perth friends & then 2 weeks later, I’ll be embarking on my first proper solo backpacking trip around Europe.

I’m looking forward to what’s ahead of me. Let’s see what I’ll learn in the next 12 months.

Something simple

This necklace was given to me for Christmas a couple of years ago by an ex boyfriend. At the time, I had only known him 2 months & we weren’t even together then. Even though we broke up last August, I still can’t find another pendant to wear around my neck.

A friend of mine recently said how perfectly this pendant described me as a person. It’s simple & it doesn’t beg for your attention.

Isn’t it funny how someone who didn’t even know me when buying this gift, got something that defines me?

Boots for a European winter- too much?

My friend Kelly was joking about getting some snow boots for her house because it gets so cold & when I found out they were only $30, I rushed out and bought some.

I’m going to Europe for 10 weeks end of this year, the European winter. I was originally born in Russia & spent 5 years there so it’s been 15 years since I’ve been there so I have noo idea how cold it is compared to New Zealand and Australia.

These boots are waterproof which is fantastic because my feet ALWAYS get super cold.

Are these too much T?

Vibrogym + Infared Sauna session

Last night my friend Gracie invited me to go to a ‘vibrogym’ with her. I’ve heard of something similar before & was expecting to just stand there on a plate, while it vibrated my whole body- more importantly, my lower body.

We were booked in for a half hour session. The instructor asked me to start doing lunges, squats, leg lifts, press up and sit ups. I was NOT expecting that! It makes every exercise so much harder!

After that, I lay on the platform and it massaged my legs & butt for 10 minutes. You rotate your body to massage your left & right side and then front & back.

I read the benefits of this vibrogym is that it increases circulation-perfect after a day sitting in the office! It is also a great body toner- just what I wanted.

Here’s the website for more benefits: http://www.vibrolifehealth.com/Benefits.htm

After that workout, also included in the $15 session was a 35 min infared sauna session. I’ve heard of these saunas before but other places charge $40 for 30 mins & I was never interested in spending so much.

The Journal of the American Medical Association stated: “A moderately conditioned person can easily sweat off 500 grams in a sauna, consuming nearly 300 kcal, which is equivalent to running 2–3 miles”.

You can bet I will be going again!

What does your ideal day look like?

I would wake up early and go for a walk & then do some pilates/ bikram yoga. After that, a swim at the beach to cool down followed by breakfast at a coastal cafe. I would read the paper, do some blogging and then do work related stuff (in the future, property). I would meet a friend for coffee in the afternoon, take the dog for a walk & then go home for dinner. The evening would be spent reading or spending time with friends, either at mine or theirs.

I can only dream right? One day.
