Road trip: Lancelin!

Sun roof views

We had a three day weekend here in Perth so I made the most of it and went on a road trip up the coast to a little place called Lancelin with three friends. We did a lot of chilling, played drinking games, watched movies, had a bbq and wandered around the small town.

Here’s some photos of the beach & where we stayed:

The sand dunes, a popular off roading place!

Where we are going to stay next time….pure luxury!

I did it!

Just one semesters worth of paper (3 units)

This week, I finished my first year of university. I’m pretty happy to say I managed to push through the past year, working and studying full time, without quitting or having a nervous breakdown (I did come close to both several times though).

I never planned to do both and when I did decide on doing both (in January), I only wanted to do it for 6 months but now? I don’t know.

I want to finish my degree in 3 and a half years (aiming for mid 2014) but I also want to work full time so I can continue saving for holidays.

So I guess next year I’ll continue doing the same thing. I’m lucky in the sense that my job is so flexible with university so maybe next year, my work/life/uni balance will be better.

But for now, I’m going to enjoy the next four months of summer holidays! I’m looking forward to many days and nights spent at the beach and going for drives up and down the coast.

Two more days!

Sunset over the city- September 2011

Excuse me for disappearing from the face of the earth lately, I’m two days off from finishing uni for the semester. I haven’t been doing very well with my studying so past two weeks I’ve really put my head down & I definitely felt a lot better today, walking out of an exam, knowing I put in a lot of effort.

Fingers crossed for the results next week! Real update coming soon.

Change of scenery

The constant battle: do I stay or do I go? It’s been nearly 5 years since I first moved to Perth. When I first got here, I didn’t even think I would be here a year but life…..just happened.

I’m currently in a lease for the next 9 months & then who knows. After talking to my housemate last week about what we’re going to do next June, she told me her plans of possibly working in Europe next year which has made me think about my plans ever since.

Is it finally time for me to make the big move across the country to Melbourne? The only thing I thought that was holding me here in Perth was university but as I found out today, it really isn’t holding me here if I don’t want it to be. I think I’m just making excuses as always.

I have some time to think about this. No rush.

Down time

If I thought that moving out of home so I could be closer to work & uni would save me time, I was terribly, terribly wrong!

I mean yeah, I’m saving time by sleeping in/resting & not driving far but I still have to find the time to do my washing, shopping & cooking….on top of studying & working. And to top it all off, I moved just before the end of semester so uni is crazy busy at the moment.

Good news is, end of exams are 17 days away. My summer holidays start in 17 days!! I am beyond excited. Only THEN will I be able to enjoy living out of home.

Now I just need to pass my exam tomorrow & two others in two weeks time & I can forget about this semester!

Old & New

I’ve been a little M.I.A this past week- I really under estimated how time consuming packing, moving & settling into my new place would be on top of full time work & uni.

I’m exhausted. I moved into my new place last Saturday, I was out all day Sunday at a music festival called Parklife and then all week, I had uni after work as well as a assignment due Friday that I finished early Friday morning. Amongst all that, it was my flatmates birthday on Thursday and I also bought a new car! Yeah….it’s been a busy week!

Here’s some photos of the move:

Such a mess!

Cosy living room...already made myself at home with all my uni stuff laid out!

I’m very limited with space in the new place so IKEA has been my best friend, they have some awesome ideas for saving space. I’ll post some more pictures once I’m completely moved in!
