One of my all time favourite blogs is definitely Marc and Angel. Their latest post about signs of success in life got me thinking about my life & how much I’m actually succeeding in (and it’s a pretty great thought!)
Here’s the quick list, the full post can be found HERE.
- You are walking your own path, not anyone else’s.
- You are gradually working through your fears.
- You have not let failure stop you.
- You learn something new and grow stronger every day.
- You have overcome some considerable obstacles.
- You do your best to love what is.
- You try to be as present as possible.
- You love yourself first, instead of loving the idea of everyone else loving you.
- You don’t judge people.
- You are the reason some people smile.
- You have incredible people in your life. .
- You have been selfless in your closest relationships. You have given up doing things for others out of guilt.
- You have given up doing things for others out of guilt.
- You aren’t overspending to impress or satisfy others.
- You respect yourself enough to never let anyone walk all over you.
- You know you can’t please everyone, and you don’t try.
How many of these 16 things can you agree with?
It was 11:50am today & I stood up to go get my lunch heated up. Was I hungry? No. So why did I stand up? It was a combination of eating at a set time (I love my routines) and boredom. You see, I have a terrible habit of eating the same food every day, at the same time. But since I’ve cut sugar out of my diet this month & fruit this week, I’ve been struggling a little snack wise. I’ve loaded myself up with almonds, boiled eggs & the rye bread + avocado combination but that sugar loving monster inside just isn’t satisfied!
If you’re on this sugar free journey with me or if you may have your own little sugar monster, I have the picture for you! See below what foods/minerals you should consider each time you have a craving:
Now I don’t know about you, but I’ll be pinning this little gem to everything in sight! & if you want some further reading about listening to your guts intuition, Jess the Wellness Warrior wrote a great piece about letting your gut tell you what to eat. It helped delay my lunch until 12:30pm today just by me tuning into what my body was telling me.
How often do you stop to think before you eat?
Yesterday, a friend of mine got me hooked on the project ‘Forty Days of Dating‘ where two friends from New York decide to date each other for 40 days. I finished reading every post uploaded (so far) at 11pm last night and ended up screaming to the internet, I MUST KNOW HOW THIS ENDS! I won’t spoil it for those yet to read it but the journey over the past 27 days is pretty incredible.
I see certain qualities in both Jessica & Tim that I’m guilty of having. I’m a hopeless romantic; I believe in ‘the one’; I do crazy things for love (like skipping countries to be with someone without telling anyone else…including my parents); and when it doesn’t feel right & I don’t want to hurt their feelings, I slowly step away even though I HATE when it happens to me in return. I guess you could say I hate confrontation & on the receiving end, I rather not hear that they’re just not that into me.
Personally, I’d love to do an experiment like this but first…..I need to move to New York asap.

I’m currently reading ‘The Happiness Trap‘ by Russ Harris which was recommended to me around the time I really struggled with mindfulness (you can read some great mindfulness posts here). So this months ‘good reads’ will be based around this idea of mindfulness and happiness.
Four articles I’ve recently enjoyed:
– “What’s your strategy for Happiness?” via Huffpost (Healthy Living section)
– “Happiness is uncovering what you already have” via the Zen Habits blog
– “Achieving Happiness: Tips to repairing a blaming relationship” via Capital Gazette (Lifestyle section)
– “Self esteem & the mind: 5 behaviours that destroy self esteem” via the Complete Self Esteem blog
Do you have any articles you’d like to share? Or good books you’ve recently read?
My life isn’t very exciting at the moment, unless you want to hear all about property investment, property ownership and the technique to valuing property? Yeah, didn’t think so. Here’s my one letter for the week:
Dear SoCal (pictured above);
You kill me every time I think of you. From your beautiful coast line to your suburban streets. Even though I don’t want a McMansion, you make me feel like I do. I miss hanging out with the Irvine kids, going for drives along the coast, watching the sunrise from Malibu, driving through Beverly Hills, attending carnivals, sitting in the back of a ute as we drive through Yorba Linda, being accepted into any group I met.
If there’s anything that’s the key to my motivation at the moment, to work like a crazy woman and finish this degree as soon as possible, it’s you California. You’re never far from my wandering mind and you’re the last thing I think about every night.
I’ll be back soon, just let me get some things sorted out here.
Dear confused brain;
I bet if my study had the view from the picture above, you wouldn’t be so confused right? Don’t worry, I’m giving you time & no limits to wander tonight, I hope that’s enough for now!
You’re not coming to Perth for another 5 months but tickets sold out within 2 weeks?? Absolute madness BUT I’m so glad I was given the chance to get tickets on the second release. Watch out Sum 41, The Offspring, A Perfect Circle, Blink 182 and Linkin Park (just to name a few), the Rock chick in me has never died!
So I’ve seen you around, on all the billboards in Perth, selling pretty houses and stuff. I also valued your new house the other day and you know, if you’re ever looking for a good little wifey, I’ll be more than happy to fill that role. Holla!
You’ve been away in the U.S for the past 4 weeks and I thought I was going to go mad without you around. But seeing you last night and talking for two & a half hours made me realise I’m never ever letting you go! Good friends like you are near impossible to come across ❤

Happy weekend all! You can click the photo below to see the rest of the Friday Letters from this week.
Current location: uni campus
Dear Urbanspoon directions;
I wanted to impress an overseas Mechanic friend so I used you to direct me to the new Mechanics’ Institute Bar in Northbridge however, you sent me to a Fitness Institute on Aberdeen St which was a little embarrassing. Thanks to Renee’s photos over at her blog, I was able to see it was located on a lane way.
(seriously, if you’re in Perth, you have no excuse not to check out this new place! It’s located on a laneway, near the corner of William St & James St mall)
Dear Perth friends;
I’m not ignoring you, I swear! With university finishing up soon & work showing no signs of slowing down, all I want to do is have a hot shower and sleep. Promise to be more available from Tuesday 30th October!
Dear Inner Sparkle;
All week, you’ve been fading away and then this morning, my favourite day of the week, you were nowhere to be seen. Please don’t do this to me when I need you the most 😦
You’re all horrible, horrible pieces of material. What happened to the good pairs that lasted more than a day or shock horror, a week?
Even though I’m not feeling myself today, you’re trying really hard to make things better by turning it up to 25 degrees with a max of 27 degrees. I truly appreciate it, you stunner!
